TiT Radio Desktop Challenge Day 02

I really didn’t do anything today with my computer because wheedlekat’s school money came, so we went run-about. I did buy a drum seat to do with the snare stand that i use to hold my laptop…

But i am still running fvwm and still not hating it. The thing i really like is where the minimized apps dock themselves at the bottom. I want that in all the Window Managers.

Fvwm isn’t a bad window manager, but needs a lot customizing to reach today’s desktops level. However, I suggest to run once Austrumi Linux liveCD, or from USB, and you’ll see – that could be also happen for Fedora too.

Pretty much the only thing I hate about fvwm is the ugly default configuration. Borders are too chunky and the colours are hideous. But in terms ability to tailor your work environment to your own preferences, I haven’t found anything better, which is why it’s still be environment of choice some 15 years after first switching to it. I’ve tried most of the alternatives, and while some of the eye candy might be initially appealing, I’ve always found myself getting frustrated by the limited amount of control I have over my desktop.
