Still using Fvwm, haven’t done much proper computing, some email, IRC, and that’s about it. My grandma got through surgery so far without any complications, and they think they got all the cancer. I’m not gonna take any more screenshots unless I actually do something drastic.
In other news… NA Ambassador Kits are shipping!!!! When it comes I plan to do an unboxing 🙂 Yes I know AK’s are not new, but it’s new to me!
I’m going to indy to see grandma tomorrow so i dont know how much I’ll have to talk about tomorrow, so we’ll see.
It maybe after midnight but hey this is day 4’s post. For some reason once a day Fvwm crashes. I have no idea what is up. And frankly tonight I’m too tired to investigate. I need to get to bed because my grandmother goes in for cancer surgery number 13 in the last decade, and may be called to hit the road to see her if it goes poorly.
There is no screenshot because I’m having trouble uploading to unixporn.com
Today I didnt do much again. I mucked up a license thing (I still can’t spot a CopyrightOnly License) and also I need to dig harder to find these things. I made myself look like a complete fool in the marketing irc channel. But we press onwards and upwards.
I heard some rumblings that the NA F12 media is out which (if true) is sweet! That means (if true) I should be getting my very first Ambassador Kit soon 🙂
I won’t be at the FAD that is attached to SCALE because I have to focus on getting into classes, yes I waited waaaaaay to long… again. So I’m sure I’ll get stuck into some really craptacular stuff but maybe I can bring my GPA up.
here is today’s screenshot
I really didn’t do anything today with my computer because wheedlekat’s school money came, so we went run-about. I did buy a drum seat to do with the snare stand that i use to hold my laptop…
But i am still running fvwm and still not hating it. The thing i really like is where the minimized apps dock themselves at the bottom. I want that in all the Window Managers.
Day 2’s proof
Still going strong. Yesterday’s post destroyed Planet Fedora so ill be a little more careful with the size of pictures 🙂
So the second day… I found out that a lot of stuff that I use requires a place to dock so I fired up gnome-panel and removed everything but a notification area. I don’t know if this is cheating but I can’t see how it is.
Jlindsay told me yesterday that he got ROX Desktop installed with out any problems. I have no idea what Klaatu and I were doing wrong but he sorted it out.
Here is today’s screenshot:
And now to Fedora Marketing. I have been trying to properly Introduce myself on the marketing mailing list but it never seems to post. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but I’m getting kinda frustrated. So I’ll try it again and hope it finds the right people 🙂
Last night on TiT Radio klaatu thought it would be a great idea to have everyone change to a lesser known desktop environment or window manager that you had never used. So my first choice was ROX-Desktop because it looks pretty cool and easy to use but I don’t think a single one of us got it to install.
Next was JWM or Joe’s Window Manager, I had tried this once when Damn Small Linux switched to it about 5 years ago. But I quickly gave up on it because I couldn’t get the terminal to open and I couldn’t get it to run from gdm. Knowing how lazy I am I wasn’t about to stick with something that would require me to change runlevels just to suffer in for a couple of weeks.
I finally decided on fvwm here is my desktop in Fedora 11 http://www.unixporn.com/screenshots/displayimage.php?pid=596&fullsize=1 I hope that in the coming two weeks I can figure out how to make this beast a beauty.
Last year LugRadio wrapped up after five seasons, over 2million downloads and six live events. For over a year Tony Whitmore from the ubuntu-uk Podcast has been working on a documentary chronicling the history of the show, and packed with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage of how the show was planned, the studio, LugRadio Live USA and more. He premiered the hour-long documentary at LugRadio Live 2009 to resounding applause and acclaim, and it is now available online, and freely available under a Creative Commons License.

It took me forever but I have another episode uploaded to Hacker Public Radio (HPR). I have two more in the pipeline one is for my series CopyFight and one is about my bashpodder/dropbox setup. I’m having trouble with the bashpodder one because I loose my train of thought so I’m gonna script it out, and I don’t have the CopyFight ep done because I’m having trouble reading legalese out loud… but ill put my nose to the grindstone and get those out
